Association of Israeli Young Researchers in European Studies

The proposed Jean Monnet Project aims to create an Association of Israeli Young Researchers for European Studies (AIRES)- in order to advance and stimulate the study of European Integration and European affairs more broadly. Currently, the Israeli academic scene lacks a forum such as the proposed AIRES, working to propagate and further develop European studies, by bringing together young researchers in the field and connecting them to senior academics, policy-makers and civil society representatives with shared interests . The project’s specific objectives include: • To recruit, support and train, young scholars interested in the field of European integration and contemporary European studies. • To develop synergies and cross-fertilisation between Israeli young researchers in the field of European studies. • Provide a forum for the advancement of European studies in Israel through the elaboration of joint conferences, workshops, publications. • Fostering dialogue between academia and Israeli (and European) policy makers/civil society organisations. • To prepare Israeli young researchers for future teaching careers. • Produce and spread content on European affairs within Israeli academic, policy and civil society circles. These objectives will be achieved through the organisation of academic conferences, methodological workshops, teacher training sessions, and collaborative roundtables between young researchers, academics and practitioners. Among its expected outcomes, the project intends to generate interest among young academics to the field of European studies; to provide the EU scholars of tomorrow with a cadre of research skills and to better position them for their future careers.
