Dr. Achim Hopbach
Achim Hopbach holds a PhD in History and has been working in higher education since 1997. Before taking his current post as Managing Director of the Austrian Quality Assurance Agency (AQ Austria) in 2012, Achim Hopbach was the Managing Director of the German Accreditation Council for 7 years. Prior to that he held several positions as research assistant, faculty manager at German universities and also as Programme Manager for the German Rectors’ Conference.
Achim Hopbach was President of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) from 2009 to 2013 and also member of the Bologna Follow-up Group; from 2005 to 2013 he served as member of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).
He worked on international consultancy projects in Southeast Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia and served on various national and international expert groups in the field of quality assurance and higher education reforms.
Achim Hopbach published numerous articles on the Bologna process, quality assurance and qualifications frameworks.
