Enhancing VIsibility of the Academic DialogUe on EU-Turkey Cooperation

Enhancing VIsibility of the Academic DialogUe on EU-Turkey Cooperation

Background
EU-Turkey relations are a ‘moving target’, creating considerable challenges for research, teaching and policy dialogues. VIADUCT, aiming at enhancing the visibility of research and teaching in the field , lasted 3 years and involved 40+1 partners from 36 countries in the EU, Turkey and the neighbourhood to gather information, exchange best practices and promote EU integration.

Objectives
- develop innovative and refine existing teaching curricula,- offer an international perspective in teaching, - open access online material providing expert’s insights, - support early stage researchers with skills and advice for their academic (net)work,- targeted and focused networking,- establish an open exchange platform, thereby enhancing the visibility of the network, - diffuse research results to a non-academic audience,- foster policy dialogue among academics and practitioners.

Implementation
VIADUCT was implemented on a ‘4x4 approach’: 1) Building intergenerational, -disciplinary, -national, and -temporal links amongst researchers and practitioners (4x‘I’). 2) Analysing four possible scenarios for EU-Turkey relations. 3) Building multidisciplinary synergies between four cross-sectorial issues (Power, Resources, People, EU’s Future). 4) Running four activity dimensions: Face-to-face and online exchanges, scientific publications and multiplier events.

Results
VIADUCT built a strong, 4x‘I’-network of across the EU, Turkey and the neighbourhood through teaching activities, conferences and public events. It contributed to the understanding of EU-Turkey scenarios by 20 network publications and VIADUCT-inspired works of partners. It built multidisciplinary synergies at conferences and through Paper Series, and will foster joint work and exchange through VIADUCT Maps in the future.
