OPEN BGU - National Jean Monnet CEO in Israel

The purpose of the proposed application is to develop a national Jean Monnet CoE in Israel by BGU and OUI, two leading higher education institutions in the field of European integration studies, with the guidance of JU as the European partner and expert. Under the national CoE, the first MA study program in European integration studies in Israel will be developed, aiming to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the EU and its integration process, as well as the dynamics of European integration from a global perspective. This CoE builds on a unique pool of research and pedagogical expertise that has developed in the field of EU studies and international relations on the European continent. In addition, Open BGU CoE will create a diverse reach extra-curricular academic and cultural events and activities and joint research. The MA program is a joint initiative between BGU, the OUI, and the JU (Poland) in order to achieve cooperative collaboration. The curriculum will cover a range of topics related to European integration, including the history and development of the EU, its institutions and decision-making processes, the economic and political integration of member states, and the role of the EU in global affairs. This will be the first MA program for European Integration Studies in Israel and is expected to attract a diverse group of students from across the region, including professionals looking to deepen their knowledge of the EU and its integration process, as well as recent graduates seeking to pursue careers in the field. The Open BGU CoE formalizes links between two peripheral countries (Israel and Poland)- to create a solid framework of academic debate, research, and networking among professors, scholars, early career researchers, and students of EU Studies, focusing on European integration studies. The overarching aim is to establish a new peripheral focal point of EU Studies and to promote academic dialogue in a systematic and coherent way.
