WEMusic - Wide Music Education Network promoting international cooperation among youth for social inclusion, active citizenship and creating job opportunities

The COVID-19 and related lock-down measures have produced significant interruptions in young people’s lives and have put into question their transition to adulthood and autonomy. These difficulties have led young people to seek support for enhancing their skills outside the formal education system, trying to acquire the right set of competences even through non-formal learning activities. The project aims at fostering the cooperation between organisations from Program and Partner Countries to promote the quality and recognition of youth work and non-formal learning activities, especially targeting young people with fewer opportunities, with a view to improving the level of competences while ensuring the active participation of young people in society. The chosen general field of intervention will be the music sector, meant as the set of different careers that this sector foresees and which are often unknown by young people, as well as one of the sector more open to spread up among youth positive messages in terms of antidiscrimination, social inclusion, political engagement and international cooperation. The project will promote the setting up of music hubs managed by youth organisations able to improve the capacity of youth to work transnationally, cooperate to create job opportunities, nurturing innovative ideas thus contributing also to the development of their local communities. The collaboration among hubs will allow young people to get professional skills in the music sectors as well as to young musicians, composers, singers, and technicians to create music and musical projects together using digital tools and online platforms (joint music productions). Particular attention will be paid in increasing youth intercultural, antidiscrimination and social inclusion skills in Belgium, Italy, Palestine, Turkey, Tunisia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
